Powering Resilience: Central Irrigation Trust Integrates Advanced Battery Energy Storage

The Central Irrigation Trust (CIT), a cornerstone of South Australia’s Riverland agricultural productivity, has strategically implemented 4.4MW/7.4MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across its network…

Central Irrigation Trust (CIT) is a key irrigation infrastructure operator in South Australia’s Riverland region. It supplies water from the Murray River to approximately 1,500 family-owned and corporate farms, along with around 3,000 households, community facilities, and industrial customers. CIT manages 13 pressurised pipeline systems that deliver water to about 14,000 hectares of high-value agricultural and horticultural land, supporting the region’s productivity and sustainability.

Over 6 months SEDAC completed all civil and electrical Balance of Plant (BoP) works for the installation of 4.4MW/7.4MWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across multiple CIT sites in the Riverland region.  Works included all civil scopes from earth works to concreting plus all electrical works including DC, LV, HV, comms and control cabling and terminations.  Works were completed in conjunction with CIT to minimise impact to the sites.
