Enhancing Safety and Reliability: Coburns Central Switchboard Upgrade
Coburns Central, a vital community shopping centre in Melton West, Victoria, prioritised safety and operational reliability by undertaking a critical switchboard replacement project. An assessment identified a high arc flash risk in the existing main switchboard, posing a potential danger to personnel and infrastructure. This necessitated the construction of a new fire-rated switchroom and a modern switchboard.
SEDAC provided a complete turnkey solution for this essential upgrade. Leveraging in-house expertise, SEDAC designed, manufactured, and installed a new, heavy-current switchboard compliant with AS61439 standards.
Crucially, all works were strategically planned and executed overnight, utilizing temporary generation to maintain continuous power supply to the shopping centre. This meticulous approach ensured uninterrupted trading for all tenants and customers throughout the entire upgrade process.
