Moyhall Solar Farm and BESS

Moyhall Solar Farm and BESS

Located on private land near Naracoorte, an area benefiting from high solar irradiance, the project features a co-located 8.3 MWp (DC) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) farm and a 4 MWh (AC) battery energy storage system, integrated behind a DC-coupled inverter.

The Moyhall Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is an innovative renewable energy project in South Australia, combining solar power generation with battery storage.

🟠 Location: Situated on private property near Naracoorte, an area with high solar irradiance.

🟠 Components: The project includes an 8.3 MWp (DC) solar photovoltaic (PV) farm and a 4 MWh (AC) battery energy storage system, integrated behind a DC-coupled inverter.

🟠 Purpose: The facility supplies a combination of solar power and battery storage services to the electricity grid, including participation in the Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS) market.

🟠 Balance of Plant: SEDAC was the principal contractor for the Electrical and Civil Balance of Plant (EBoP and CBoP) construction. This involved connecting and integrating the renewable energy infrastructure into the energy network, including all supporting components and auxiliary systems for energy delivery, regulation, monitoring, control, and protection of the assets.

🟠 SEDAC’s Role: SEDAC completed the construction of the electricity infrastructure, including cable reticulation, high voltage connections, underground/overhead cables, and all civil works like trenching and footing construction.
